Guiding Questions

Guiding Questions for your research

If your chosen event had never happened...

  • Which ‘wars’ would not have happened? Why?
  • What holidays/celebrations that wouldn’t exist and why?
  • What was the effect on politics from the event?
  • Which historical figures wouldn’t have a voice and why?
  • Would there be any changes in social norms, morals and values? Why would this be the case?
  • Which institutions would no longer exist? (Medical and educational, eg. St Vincent’s Hospital, Mater Christi College)
  • Would there be changes in locations or the existence of historical tourist places? Why? Where would they be instead?

This video presents a timeline of the Christin Churches, including the Great Schism, the Reformation and the creation of the Church of England.

Approaching the Task

1. Choose your event.

Start by finding out the who, what, where, when, why & how of your chosen event.

A Lotus Chart might be a useful way to keep track of these notes.

2. Refer to multiple sources.

Examine multiple sources from the Libguide page for your chosen event.

Read websites and watch videos.

For each source (website or video) that you examine, take notes in a Cornell Notes Template.

Look out for ideas relating to the key areas of impact:

  • Social Justice and Public Health
  • Education
  • Laws and Morality
  • Impact on Popular Culture today

Make sure you complete the summary section of the Cornell template - this will come in handy when you write up your final response!
