What type of IB Learner was your scientist?
Choose one of the IB Learner Profile attributes that best describes what type of learner your scientist was and justify your decision using examples from their life.
Here is an example of how you would describe what type of IB Learner Dian Fossey (American zoologist: world’s leading authority on mountain gorillas) was using examples to justify the explanation.
IB Learner Profile: Inquirer
We nurture our curiosity, developing skills for inquiry and research. We know how to learn independently and with others. We learn with enthusiasm and sustain our love of learning throughout life.
Dian Fossey could be described as an Inquirer.
She was curious about the habits of gorillas and how they communicated, and she developed skills to communicate with them by observing them in their natural habitat. She collected data and recorded many hours of observations. Dian lived with the gorillas in a hermit-like existence, (1966-1985) learning independently, and from others, such as Leakey (anthropologist). She never lost her enthusiasm and her love of learning as she studied and researched the gorillas until she was killed in 1985.
