Project 2020

by Jennifer Cain on November 21st, 2019 in MYP | 0 Comments

Over the summer break think about what really excites you.

Where does your passion lie?

What do you feel strongly about and why?

Talk to friends and family about what topic you might make your project about.

Make a note of all your ideas. This will be the beginning of your Process Journal and will provide an example of your thinking skills.

Happy Holidays!

Creating the product/outcome

Create a product/outcome in response to the goal, global context and criteria

  • spend no more than 6-7 hours creating your product
  • document the process of creating your product by taking photos of each stage and add them to your journal
  • draw on your research and planning to create a product of high quality that you can be proud of and will achieve your goal
  • your journal should be filled with photos, screenshots, reflections, annotations
  • is your Global Context evident in your product/outcome?

Planning phase begins

by Jennifer Cain on May 13th, 2019 in MYP | 0 Comments

Planning phase:

  • Develop criteria for the product/outcome

  • Plan and record the development process of the project

  • Demonstrate self-management skills

  • Begin planning how you're going to manage the completion of your project.

  • Your plan should include short and long-term planning broken down into logical steps with specific dates and clear records of adjustments to the project's timeline.

  • The record of the development of the whole process must include a comprehensive account of the process from start to finish with changes clearly described and justified

  • Develop a criteria for measuring the success of your product.

Research Phase begins

Online Planning Form: submit by April 5

A reminder to submit your Online Planning Form by the end of Term 1, so that you can use the holidays to make a start on the research phase of your project.

Research Phase

Use a wide range of sources, online (videos, sites, news articles, podcasts etc), personal (interviews, surveys, telephone conversations, emails) and visits to galleries, museums, parks etc.

Record everything in your Process Journal

Even though you may change or refine your goal, do not discard anything from your journal. It is not meant to be 'pretty'. It is meant to reflect your process, your thinking, your change of mind and the reasons why you change things.

Always explain the reasons why you change and alter your plans and write about it in your Process Journal.

Major Milestone: Planning form due

by Jennifer Cain on March 17th, 2019 in MYP | 0 Comments

Online Form due

Work with your mentor to complete the Online Planning Form together.

Duplicate your responses on the hard copy contained in your Project Wallet and include in your Process Journal.

If you are unable to answer some of the questions because you have yet to make decisions, answer as best you can.

Goal

Your Goal should be highly challenging to you. Remember to use verbs in your goal statement.

Choose the Global Context and particular strand that best fits your goal and make it connect throughout the project.

Topic of Investigation

Finalise the topic of Investigation - what you're going to research and explore the guide for the necessary tools to help you research.

Research

Use the term break to begin your research.

Tips for the Personal Project

by Jennifer Cain on February 22nd, 2019 in MYP | 0 Comments

The Project is not only personal

Students work independently, exploring a topic they love, BUT, it should have an impact on others (teaching others, raising awareness of an issue, service, action, etc.)

The Product/Outcome is not as important as the topic

Students should not make a decision about their product for the first few months.

They should research first.

If a student wants to learn about plastic in the ocean...their end product could be anything from reusable cutlery to a social media campaign.

Students need to not make a decision about their product/outcome straight away.
